Claims preparation service

Start your claims

Identify claims you can lodge through consultation with me, and by conducting a review of your defence medical records. This service will provide you with packaged ‘submission-ready’ documents, ready to submit with your claim to DVA.

I have extensive experience in this area, as I was previously contracted by Defence / DVA to provide this same service to members with medically separating from Defence.

This service is for you if:

  • You want to lodge claims but aren't quite sure where to start or what to do
  • You need a doctor to sign claim lodgment forms
  • You want someone to look through your med docs
  • You are happy lodging the claims yourself - with our assistance (or through your advocate)
  • You don't want to pay a commercial advocate tens of thousands of dollars in fees
  • You want to remain in complete control of your claims process

This service includes:

  • An extensive doctor appointment to identify claims to lodge
  • Review Defence medical records and extract supporting evidence - if needed, if available (with the assistance of AI, with your consent)
  • Request and compile existing medical evidence (e.g., MRI/X-ray reports, GP/specialist notes)
  • Order imaging, where clinically appropriate and possible (on Medicare)
  • Discuss and prepare mental health claims, and facilitate immediate mental health support referrals - if needed
  • Complete initial DVA claim paperwork requiring a doctor signature (DVA diagnostic assessments)
  • Care and treatment advice
  • Prepared, submission-ready documents with supporting evidence for you to lodge your claims
  • Simple instructions on how to lodge the claims yourself - This is a very easy process

This is a privately billed service

  • Fee is dependent on how many claims to prepare - Starting at $110, capped at $900+GST
  • Medicare rebates between $43 - $125 apply to in-person appointments.

New claims FAQ

An advocate will typically advise on what claims you can lodge and then lodge the claims for you. An advocate will then liaise with DVA on your behalf throughout the claims process. However;

Fees for most advocates amount to tens of thousands of dollars.

Some advocates won't go through med docs.

With or without an advocate, you will still need to see a doctor to get your claims in the queue with DVA.

Some med doc summary services only focus on what is mentioned in med docs, without considering other claimable conditions that wouldn't be mentioned in them.

For example, degeneration (arthritis), and any injuries that weren't recorded in med docs.

I am a doctor that was once contracted to DVA conducting this service for complex, medically-separating veterans.

I also care for hundreds of veterans in my general practice.

Yes, which is an easy process done through the DVA section of your MyGov account. We have simple step-by-step guides on how to lodge claims.

Yes.

No - Not all conditions, such as degeneration, will be mentioned in medical records.

Usually within a week of us receiving them.
